Our Story

Born in the Mountains, For the Mountains

With roots dating back to 1985, our experience spans generations of Indian filmmaking—from Hrishikesh Mukherjee to Ayan Mukerji and beyond.

Red Apple Films was born in the mountains, for the mountains. Founded in 1985 by Mr Anil Kaistha, we started with a simple observation: the Himalayas are one of the most cinematic regions in the world, but shooting here is hard. Permits are slow, accommodation is scarce in the right places, weather is unpredictable, and a single wrong vendor can cost a production days of footage.

So we built the company we wished existed. A team that lives in Himachal, knows every district officer by name, has a hotelier on speed dial in every valley, and has been on enough sets to anticipate problems before they happen.

Today, Red Apple Films is one of Himachal Pradesh's most trusted line production partners — quietly behind some of the most ambitious feature films, web series, music videos, and commercials shot in the region.

What We Do

End-to-End Production Support

We are a line production and location services company. Our work begins the moment a producer says "we want to shoot in Himachal" and ends only when the last vehicle has rolled out of the valley.

That includes:

  • All shoot permissions and government liaison
  • Crew accommodation and stay management
  • Transportation and convoy logistics
  • Location scouting and recce support
  • Local crew, runners, and liaison officers
  • Catering and unit provisioning
  • Safety, medical, and high-altitude support
  • On-ground problem-solving, every hour of every shoot day

What We Don't Do

We Believe in Clarity

Red Apple Films does not supply technical equipment. We do not rent cameras, lenses, lighting, grip, sound, or any technical hardware. Productions bring their own equipment teams (or rent from specialized vendors), and we coordinate around them.
